The Regional Education and Training Center (RETC) has been involved in career navigation since its inception in 2009. An important factor in RETC’s mission is to assist those seeking employment in the manufacturing, construction, transportation, and energy industries to find a job by engaging in value-added career navigation activities. From our experience, we have learned that the quality associated with career navigation can be measured by assisting job-seekers with a process to determine their career goals, document their experiences and align those experiences with competencies employers are seeking in new hires.
A key component of our career navigation services is to assist job seekers in value-added services such as a building a career portfolio that includes competency assessments, master resumes, target resumes, job search methods and techniques, resources, and interviewing strategies.
